Applying to the Music School
The process of applying and auditioning for The National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music is very straightforward. Application is open to pupils in the Scottish secondary education system. Applications close at the end of February or early in March each year, and auditions are held in late March with applicants being notified of whether or not they are successful before Easter.
In August 2018, we launched a new Devlopment Programme. This is aimed at students coming into Plockton High School from one of the feeder primary schools, going into S1, and acts as a ‘mini’ music school. Students enrolled on the programme are brought out of the normal High School timetable for one 50 minute period of instrument tuition a week, plus two groupwork sessions held over Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes (the High School offer a takeaway ‘Grab and Go’ lunch service). At the end of S2, students on the programme can audition for the full Music School to start the following August as an S3 student. Contact us for more information.

After we receive your initial enquiry, we will send you more information in the form of our Prospectus, the Prospectus for Plockton High School and the Residence Handbook. We will also make arrangements for an Advisory Audition or Open Day visit.
There is also an FAQ section which answers many of the most common initial queries.
